Market Disorder
remains unaddressed
in marketing disorder condition, we see price taking over and customers have hard time finding product of their desired qualities from producers they can trust.
Producers
still unable to find markets/buyers of their quality products and most of them return to low cost high chemical production methods.
Consumers
are not aware of the food risk ,still unable to purchase products of desire quality and choose to shop from whomever they thought good without real merits.
Businesses
downsizing after being unable to find the right producers/products, structure operation to meet needs of customers who are confused.

Short answer is
The sector has received no less supports from donors, NGOs and the publics compared to
financial services
which works very well.
We're learning and getting closer.
The donor focuses have evolved from Phase1 to Phase 3 Davane believes is the correct model to pursue. We should take
note agriculture is
10 time more difficult
than financial
products.
Phase 2 . Market Linkage
10 years ago, with improved production capacity, the strategy was to link market actors (buyers) to the producers .
Phase 3 . Integration
5 years ago to now, we shift to integrate farmers into business model of private actors with more investment to businesses.
Phase 1 . Production
About 20 years ago, it was focused on assisting farmers increase production capacity as well as quality to meet safety standards.
what missing and for the model to work, we need (1) strong and capable businesses on the market side to compete to win the heart of the customer and against import unsafe products to lead and (2) with right investment model from the donors.
has conditions to succeed after more 3 years of remarkable achievement solving some of the most difficult technical problems in food safety and developing retail market model . We just need right investments from donors to scale the model.

Since its inception in early 2020, Davane marches steadily toward our goal. We set up retail store serving our customers who are getting increasingly concerned about the quality and safety of the foods they consume. We pioneer innovative approach to food safety system, which we take pride in and continuing to improve it even further. We reduce food risk by about 25% for about 250 families we serve everyday. A lot of progress is being made and will do more to accelerate toward the mission.

Thriving agriculture is our best bet
[] we can't have strong and thriving Cambodia without solid agriculture sector and local quality safe foods for its people.
[] agriculture is our best bet given we have a serious competitive advantage over other countries with rich natural resources/fertilized soil and cheap labors. We can't compete in technologies, heavy industry, or even some light industry at this point.
[] sensible investment in agriculture is undoubtedly good economic and long term human resource development on the basis that we can reduce spending of our hard-earn money used to import foods from other countries and repurpose that resources to invest in key areas.
[02]
Leadership with a vision
[] big things evolve from small of great quality.
[] leadership with a vision and serious commitment is at the center to bring in new innovations and develop right business models to get things moving.
[03]
Grant and Co-Investment
from Donors and NGOs
After three year of relentless pursuit of solution, Davane is certainly qualified to lead even we're still small in size but has strong track record of solving some of the most difficult technical problems as well as strong business models.
With (1) top producers already identified,
and (2) Davane that builds itself as a local brand working out solution on market side (marketing and distribution)
we just need (3) right partners (private, public or NGO) to provide us resources to fund a few crucial long-term investments since it's not fit with conventional investments of the regular investors.
